How we look after each other in the NI Game Dev Network

Safety

1. Absolutely no harassment, sexism, racism, or hate speech will be tolerated anywhere in the NI Game Dev Network, online or in person. This includes offensive verbal comments related to gender, gender identity and expression, age, sexual orientation, disability, physical appearance, body size, race, ethnicity, religion, technology choices, sexual images in public spaces, deliberate intimidation, stalking, harassing photography or recording, sustained disruption of talks or other events, inappropriate physical contact, and unwelcome sexual attention. Members asked to stop any harassing behaviour are expected to comply immediately. If a member engages in harassing behaviour, our moderators and organisers will take any action they deem appropriate, including warning the offender, muting, or banning them.
2. No NSFW or obscene content. Additionally, while the occasional swear is perfectly fine for expressing strong emotions (such as "this shit rules!" or "fucking pay your interns man"), running your tongue just for the sake of it is not.
3. Respect other members' privacy and do not share any personal information.
4. If you’re going to give someone advice, please do your research beforehand. Knowingly giving someone false information is not tolerated.

Respect

1. Be nice and polite at all times. Maintain a tolerant, inclusive environment.
2. Impersonation of a staff member is not tolerated.
3. Make everyone feel welcome. We have both experienced developers and new people interested in making games!
4. Discrimination of any kind is not tolerated.

Engagement

1. Be the feedback you want to see in the world. When you post a question, we encourage you to take the time to respond to at least one other person.
2. If you're giving feedback to anybody, be sure to keep the comments respectful and non-personal.
3. No spamming, no selling. Do not try to sell your work or ask for commissions.
4. Share what you find. Jobs, opportunities, events and useful resources are all worth passing on.

Professionalism

1. Treat each of your fellow community members as a potential teammate, hiring manager, or business partner.
2. Conduct yourself as if your employer were in the room. If you wouldn't say it in the company Slack or Teams, don't say it here.

At our events

1. Everyone is welcome, whatever your level of experience. If you spot someone on their own, say hello and make room for them.
2. Ask before photographing or filming anyone, and stop if someone asks you to.
3. Our events are hosted in venues with their own staff and rules. Follow them, and look after the space.
4. If something or someone is making you uncomfortable, find an organiser. We will deal with it in private.

On Discord

1. Stay on topic. Ensure that conversation starters and questions are posted in the relevant channel, and avoid posting the same message in several channels.
2. Advertising is permitted only in #self-promotion.
3. Members are free to share jobs they find with each other in the #jobs-and-opportunities channel.
4. Be careful with "@" usage. Try not to ping people too much or at late times.
