# GLOBAL GAME JAM IS BACK!
Farset Labs has hosted Northern Ireland’s only public site of the international “Global Game Jam” hackathon for the past 10 years, and after two years trapped in the metaverse, we're back in person!
For the third year in a row, Farset Labs and the NI Game Dev Network are teaming up to coordinate the Belfast site for GGJ, both in person but also to support anyone participating remotely.
Tickets are £12 (or £6 for those with low/no income), which covers access to Farset Labs and meals throughout the event on Friday, Saturday and Sunday to keep you well fed! Plus, tickets are free for Farset Labs members 😁
🕹️ About GGJ
Global Game Jam is the world's largest game creation event taking place around the globe boasting tens of thousands of participants (jammers) at hundreds of physical and virtual sites in over one hundred countries around the world. A game jam is similar to a hackathon where people come together for a short period of time to create games around a central theme revealed at the start of the jam. The structure of the GGJ is usually that everyone gathers on Friday late afternoon, watches a short video keynote with advice from leading game developers, and then a secret theme is announced. All jammers worldwide are then challenged to make games based on that same theme, with games to be completed by Sunday afternoon.
There is no required skill level to take part – programmers, artists, musicians and enthusiasts are all welcome.
This year’s Belfast GGJ will take place between Friday 3rd and Sunday 5th February, and previous years have seen amateurs and professionals from all over Northern Ireland come to create thought-provoking projects, and have fun while doing it.
